“ GOLDEN REAWAKENING BRINGING THE AGE OF CAMBODIAN FILM BACK TO LIFE”

We invite you to join us at the Chinese House, 45 Sisowath Quay, for amazing screenings of films from the 1960s and early 1970s, an exhibition of photographs of movie theaters, actors and actresses and other film players, and movie songs and discussions lead by famous movie stars and filmmakers.

What : Present the golden era of Cambodian cinema, from 1960s to 1970s

Where : Chinese House, Sisowath Quay, Phnom Penh

When : October, 8th-18th, 2009

Who : The Cambodian 60s generations, new generations, and the foreigners

I. Description of our Team

1. Curator Davy Chou
Davy Chou is a French Cambodian filmmaker whose grandfather, Van Chann, was one of famous producers in Cambodia in the 60s. He is making a documentary film about the golden era of Cambodian film in 1960s.

2. Artists, photographers, researchers:
More than 20 Cambodian artists and students: Stiew Selapak (photography group)
Visual artists (graduates of Reyum Art School and Royal University of Fine Arts)
Architecture students from Norton University
Writers from the Department of Media and Communication of the Royal University of Phnom Penh

II. Objectives

Remind a forgotten good old time of great Cambodian film society
Remember a great Cambodian culture of film have been lost
Raise awareness about the great art products in the past to motivate today young film makers, artists, and researchers to enthusiast of their works.

IV. Sponsorship Proposal

1. Prior Event
Press release written by a Cambodian journalist to invite both international and national journalists
Since our team members consist of journalists, they already do a peer to peer communication with their profession colleagues. Newspapers, magazines, and online articles definitely talk about our prior works of exhibition.
Special invitation will be sent out to the Cambodian 60s generations living the cities and abroad to review about their good old times of going for a movie together.
Internet: mail invitation, facebook, and other social networks will be used to attracted the young Cambodian scholars and artists.
Poster and flyer with the logos of the sponsors will be posted in the public places
A huge network with 5 schools, 4 organizations and Chinese House network will spread out these news to their friends and families.

2. Post Event
Newspapers, radio and TV report are expected to report about this new event in town.
The film of the 60s cinema will use some video footage from the exhibition.
Book, research paper, and artistic works of the 60s films will be booming after this exhibition.
